I’ll admit it – shopping is easily my #1 hobby; living in NYC, it takes serious willpower not to stop into Bloomingdale’s walking home from work or pop over to Lululemon when I’m looking to get out of the house. 80% of the time, I don’t actually purchase anything, but I still love trying on shoes, figuring out how to re-work my current wardrobe, and lusting over handbags I could only dream about owning.
Shopping online is a whole different beast. This morning, I opened my Gmail inbox to find out Tory Burch is hosting a 25% off Friends & Family sale (!!!) I’ve been debating buying the Miller sandal in Vintage Vachetta for the past 2 months, and that extra discount was just the nudge I needed to pull the trigger. I love the color, & know I will get a lot of use out of them this summer!!
Today I was out of the office all day for more meetings, and luckily we ended a lot earlier than expected. I wanted to spend time outside, but because I’m running my first 5k race this weekend, I was hesitant to go on a run (knowing my luck, I’d trip on the sidewalk or twist an ankle.) What a perfect excuse to shop!!
First stop: Banana Republic. I definitely love the preppy nautical feel of the brand’s new arrivals – I was drawn to pieces like this white cotton eyelet peplum top – my version of the monochromatic trend I’m seeing everywhere would be pairing it with white jeans. I also love this gingham blazer – great with slouchy jeans on the weekend or over a black dress for work.
I ended up trying on a few pieces, and while I didn’t buy anything, I definitely have my eye on a few of them – Banana does run great sales (today is spend $100 get $50 off) so maybe I’ll get a good deal on some of my favorites.
Look #1: Red, White and Blue – and a little Skin, too
I felt a little vintage-pinup-girl in this outfit – and I loved it! This skirt is definitely long and full enough to get away with tying the blouse and baring a little strip of skin – something I don’t usually do.
Look #2 – Classic in Navy
I love this dress and want to wear it every day for the rest of life (only half kidding!) The shape is so classic and flattering, and it can be worn a million ways – with nude heels and a jacket for a presentation or with bright sandals and a statement necklace for a regular day at work.
Look #3: White eyelet – Yes, please!
This is the perfect skirt for summer. The pencil cut is super slimming, but the eyelet adds texture and a fun detail. I also love the blue hue of this shirt, and the pattern works well with the eyelet.
Bonus pictures of some gorgeous flowers I spotted around town, plus the adorable dress I wore today at work:
